Yoga is not about touching your toes, its about what you learn on the way down.
— Jigar Gor

 Yoga is home.

I turned to yoga when other forms of exercise had become harmful to my body, causing injury and migraine pain. What started as healthy exercise became a sacred space of self-compassion and hope. Each time I practice yoga, I get to know myself a little better, grow a little stronger and live a little bit easier. My soul’s prayer is for you to have this sacred space too - it feels like coming home.  Be well and at peace. Namaste.

This is a super loving, yin infused sequence - meaning it is slow paced and oh so cozy. Poses are seated or lying down, so you will be able to relax and release. We will take a Yoni mudra and withdraw our senses (pratyahara), like we are going back into the womb where we are safe and quiet. Grab some pillows, put on your comfiest clothes and let's nourish ourselves with healing love. Namaste. love, Sarah

This meditative, slow and reflective class contains a Moon Salutation. So, consider doing this practice outside under the moon if it will be night where you are. Chandra Namaskar, or Moon Salutations, are cooling and grounding. Meaning they are wonderful at the end of the day and have been recommended for people with migraine. Consistency and rhythm are important tools for migraine prevention and overall well being - and Moon Salutations embody both of these qualities, offering us the opportunity to get in touch with our own unique rhythm. Hope you are getting excited for this self-nurturing flow. :)

Why Yoga for Migraine?

Facts about yoga for migraine and it’s benefits

Sarah, Om CEO and Founder, discusses the benefits of yoga for battling chronic migraines. For additional support in battling chronic headache & migraines vis...

A study about yoga for people with migraine showed reduced frequency and intensity of migraine episodes! And 29 out of 30 participants agreed it "greatly improved my clinical condition."

More specifically, participants experienced a reduction in their sympathetic nervous system activity. Our sympathetic nervous system controls our fight or flight response, so a reduction in it’s activity is stress reduction.

They also had a stronger Vagal Tone. Ok, what is that?? Our Vagus nerve starts at the brain stem (where migraine starts) and is instrumental in so many functions within our bodies including regulating inflammation, digestion, and calming down after being stressed. The Vagus nerve is so important to migraine and overall health that I dedicated a Facebook Live discussion to it.
